About the College of Chiropractic
Life University’s College of Chiropractic provides a rigorous education for the most dedicated and talented students. Future doctors of chiropractic come here from every state in the United States and more than 30 other countries for the most progressive and forward-thinking chiropractic education available.
Our College of Chiropractic offers an enviable blend of demanding coursework, highly qualified and knowledgeable faculty, outstanding learning facilities and a supportive environment in which each student’s unique goals for practice are respected and nurtured. That may help explain why our students outperformed those of every other chiropractic college in the country recently on national board exams for chiropractic licensing.
Life University’s Chiropractic students benefit from an aggressive curriculum that packs more technique and adjusting practice into the learning experience than any other chiropractic college. They gain extensive hands-on experience and personal attention in intimate technique learning groups of 20 or fewer students with seasoned faculty experts. They also choose from the broadest range of technique classes and electives, such as Gonstead, Thompson and Activator. Our state-of-the-art Center for Health and Optimum Performance (C-HOP) even has dedicated adjusting rooms specifically equipped for certain techniques.
Our students are also encouraged to develop a holistic view of patient care and enjoy interdisciplinary partnerships with student colleagues from other majors across the university. Psychology students serve as wellness coaches, nutrition and dietetics students provide nutritional assessments and counseling, and sport health science students assist with functional rehabilitation services. We practice a vitalistic health and wellness model of care and educate doctors of chiropractic who consider the wellbeing of the entire person and are comfortable interacting and consulting with other professionals.
Our students also develop a depth of understanding of the nervous system not found elsewhere. In fact, senior students actually complete diplomate-level coursework in neurology and biomechanics from a faculty expert who holds this post-graduate credential. What could be more important to a doctor concerned with nervous system function?
Although some of the foundational principles of chiropractic are well mastered in the classroom setting, the clinic is where it comes together. That’s why Life College of Chiropractic students begin working and studying in the clinic setting right from first quarter; initially as clinical observers and patients, and then gradually stepping up to assisting in procedures, and eventually founding and running their very own chiropractic practices caring for the their community.
We’re big into learning by doing here. We take the same approach in the senior quarters when students are immersed in our Clinical Education Track. Through our unique case-based learning system, students grapple with real-life problems using real-life case histories, x-rays, exam results, care approaches and results from real patient files from the C-HOP.
We push students a little harder when it comes to the business of being in chiropractic practice too. Most chiropractic colleges provide a few semester hours in practice management and send graduates out to learn by trial and error, leading many to quickly invest in expensive practice management consultants during those first months in practice.
We’ve turned that model on its head. We bring the top-rated national practice management consultants to you while you’re a student at no extra cost! First, our students receive an in-depth business curriculum taught by our highly credentialed business faculty who have studied and researched their disciplines for years. Then, they move on to select from among three national management consulting firms and complete their full program prior to graduation.
As a Life graduate, you won’t wonder if you’re ready to enter practice. You’ll possess steadfast confidence in your clinical skills and the assurance that you know how to build a professional practice, too. That’s because you will have already done those things within the supportive network of your campus experience learning by doing alongside your faculty mentors.
