Life University Athletics
The Life University Athletic program is designed to provide Life students with new and exciting competitive experiences outside the classroom, and on the field of competition. If you are a beginner or an elite athlete, there is a sport club on campus that any student, regardless of ability, can be a part of. Get involved.
The following is a list of the club sports currently active at Life University:
Rugby
The Life University RFC is a member of USA Rugby Division 1. The Life RFC is one of the top rugby teams in the United States playing throughout the country against the finest competition available.
Volleyball
We field a men’s volleyball team and a women’s volleyball team at Life University, and we even have some co-ed events in the summer. The men’s and women’s teams are members of NIRSA (the National Intercollegiate Recreation and Sports Association) and USA Volleyball. Through membership in these organizations our volleyball program is able to find matches and tournaments against other collegiate club volleyball teams in the south.
Cycling
The Life University Cycling club is made up of a variety of students from all skill levels who have come together to enjoy the sport of cycling. We have beginning cyclists, intermediate level riders, and elite athletes that travel to events all around the southeast. Cycling is a great way to train, and a great way to represent Life University.
Soccer
We currently have a men’s soccer club that competes as a member of NIRSA. Soccer is a growing sport here at Life and we have plans to add a women’s team this fall. The club has played in several games this spring as they train in preparation for the collegiate competition this fall.
Hockey
Life University Hockey is set to begin it’s second season in the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association). The ACHA is an organization of over 200 colleges and universities across the country that sponsor club hockey. We are looking forward to the upcoming season as we follow the progress of the team.
Tennis
Our tennis program is affiliated with the USTA Tennis on Campus program and has enjoyed tremendous growth throughout the past school year. The tennis club members practice and play together in events throughout the school year at our tennis facility, and on college campuses across the South.
Golf
The Life University Golf program is new and beginning to grow with more and more students joining this exciting new team to improve their golf score and potentially reach the level of competitive golfer. The opportunity to practice and play with good players will help any participant in any sport, combine that with the excellent level of instruction available on our team and the student has an opportunity to become a better golfer.
Powerlifting
Our new powerlifting is club is forming and will begin competing in powerlifting contests during Summer 2007. This is the newest team in fastest growing part of competitive weightlifting and enhances Life University’s commitment to fitness
Racquetball
One of the best workouts in the world is the sport of racquetball. The Life University Racquetball club plays together in the Sport Health Science Center racquetball courts and competes in tournaments all over the Southeast.
Triathlon
In keeping with the Life University Club sport commitment to fitness, the athletic department has formed a Triathlon club for those athletes that are interested in testing the limits of their physical ability.
