Wellness Center

Life University boasts a unique emphasis on health and wellness in harmony with our vitalistic approach to healthcare and our students’ commitment to maximizing human potential and peak performance. We support healthy habits ranging from the decisions of a particular individual all the way to demonstrating our commitment to helping create a healthier planet.

Rather than packing on the “Freshman 15,” turning to smoking as a stress reducer or engaging in excessive drinking, Life students have tremendous access to wellness services that will help them develop a greater commitment to their personal health and lay the foundation for a lifetime of healthy habits. This is a place where people with a commitment to health feel right at home.

Smoke-Free Campus - One way we stand behind our commitment to promoting the health and potential of our students is by providing them with an environment free from the toxins of cigarette smoke. Life is a smoke-free campus with no smoking permitted inside any of our buildings or outside on our grounds. We want to serve as role models to community members and patients accessing the services of our students and support our students in making the best choices for their long-term well-being. Students interested in quitting smoking may get more information about available programs from the Office of Student Services.

Healthy Eating - Our Campus Café service provides a Fitness Flair menu that offers low-fat, low-calorie options along with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Vegetarian options are also available. During the summer, we also provide a Farmer’s Market that brings local vendors to campus each week with organic, locally-grown produce for sale to students and the local community.

Getting Active - Because we understand the profound impact of regular activity on physical, emotional and social well-being, Life offers numerous athletic programs to meet the needs of the novice to the serious athlete. Collegiate, club sports and intramurals provide an ongoing schedule of physical activity for all students regardless of ability or prior experience. We also boast five miles of running trails and a 90-acre campus with plenty of opportunity for a brisk walk between classes.

Wellness Center - Personal fitness really comes together in our on-campus Wellness Center where students can work out with strength training and aerobic equipment and participate in a vast array of classes. Over the course of just one week students can choose from classes in Pilates, spinning, aerobics, weightlifting, martial arts, salsa, yoga, boot camp, cardio burn and interval work outs. Personal trainers are also available to assist students in establishing personal workout goals and plans.

Spouses of students and children over the age of 18 may use the Wellness Center facility at no charge.

The Wellness Center also offers various programs throughout the year such as Life’s Ultimate Challenge that brings faculty, students and staff together in teams focused on weight loss, strength development and improved fitness. They even provide on-line suggestions for participating in activities such as a gratitude journal. Our highly qualified and enthusiastic staff is always searching for new ways to keep students motivated and focused on personal health and fitness.

Our students also enjoy the unique advantage of receiving free chiropractic care from student doctors and services such as nutrition counseling, life coaching and health and fitness evaluations from students in these disciplines through our Center for Health and Optimum Performance (C-HOP) and athletic assessments and injury care through the Life University Sports Science Institute (LUSSI). Spouses and dependent children of students may also access chiropractic services at no charge in the Campus C-HOP.

President’s Climate Initiative - Life University is also interested in protecting and promoting the health of the planet. We are among the first 100 universities in the country to join the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment to address global warming. Through this effort we will be focused on using as many green practices on campus as possible and constructing future buildings that are emission free.
