Life University Hosts Village Farmers’ Market

MARIETTA, GA -- Life University is hosting the weekly organic Village Farmers’ Market open to the public on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  This market offers local, organically grown items, including fresh flowers, nuts, fruits, vegetables, meats and whole grain breads.  Vendors include Country Gardens Farm & Nursery, Pure Bliss Organics and many others.

The Village Farmers’ Market is one of the initiatives taken to improve health in the communities the University serves.  Other initiatives include completing an emissions inventory, becoming carbon-neutral within ten years, reducing greenhouse emissions, integrating sustainability into the curriculum and providing an action plan, inventory and progress reports to the public.

“Sponsoring an organic farmers’ market is part of Life University’s commitment to setting an example of carbon-neutrality for our campus and community,” said Dr. Guy Riekeman, President of Life University. “We are proud to host the Village Farmers’ Market so that all residents of Marietta and the surrounding areas can enjoy fresh, organic produce each week.”

The market will continue through September, and is located on the Life University campus across from the 19th Century Historic Village and Farm.
