PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

Dietetic Internship Program

Graduates with academic preparation in dietetics, after successful completion of an internship, will be eligible to sit for the National Exam for Registered Dietitians and be competent to assume entry-level positions as dietitians in a variety of settings.

The dietetic internship is structured in compliance with the standard of education set by CADE. The Dietetic Internship at Life University is a nine month (37 weeks-27 credit hours) non-degree post baccalaureate program that provides interns with necessary knowledge and skills to be eligible to sit for the National Registration Exam for Dietitians and to pursue a variety of career opportunities in the field of dietetics. Up to 12 interns can be admitted to the program, which starts mid summer quarter, and is completed by the end of spring quarter of each year.

Credentialing Process for Dietetics Practitioners

Students are required to go through a sequential three-step process to become a Registered Dietitian. Those steps are:

  1. Completion of didactic program in dietetics with minimum academic requirements as approved by CADE.
  2. Complete a CADE accredited internship.
  3. Pass the National Registration Examination For Dietitians.

The completion of this program fulfills the second step in the process.
