Clinic P.E.A.K. (Practice, Excellence, Art, Knowledge)

Clinic P.E.A.K. is a Community Based clinical learning experience for 13th and 14th quarter students.  Eligible students receive one-on-one mentoring from an experienced, qualified licensed doctor of chiropractic (Life University Extension Faculty) in the community.  This intensive training not only allows the student intern to see a wider range, variety, and quantity of cases, but also allows them to become more familiar with the operation of a practice in a real life setting.

Life University Clinic P.E.A.K. has special features that create the most advanced mentoring model in the profession today.  It begins with a pre-internship meeting where the student intern and extension faculty doctor complete and sign a Learning Agreement.  This sets the schedule and duties of the intern and clearly outlines the expectations of each.  A weekly meeting is scheduled for the doctor and intern to discuss topics related to practice.  In addition the Intern will complete 1-2 Learning Objective Worksheets each week which focus on a key aspect of clinical and practice experience.

The future of Clinic P.E.A.K. includes expansion to other communities remote to Life University.  In the 14th quarter the class schedule allows for travel away from Life University.  New opportunities are opening up in distant locations in the state of Georgia.  Additionally, new opportunities are available in the state of Michigan, and in West Virginia at the VA Hospital.  In time it is possible that international opportunities will be available as part of the P.E.A.K. program.  Our goal is to place all 13th and 14th quarter students in an off campus learning environment and P.E.A.K. will be a key component of providing those options.
