CGUS Students and Alumni

CGUS Students and Alumni

(receiving an Associate, Bachelor, or Master’s degree)

Life University believes that career planning is a lifelong process and desires for all graduates to secure fulfilling careers post-graduation as they strive to apply its guiding principle of Lasting Purpose: To Give, To Do, To Love, To Serve – Out of a Sense of Abundance and share their individual gifts with the world.

Whether you are selecting your major, exploring career options, seeking an internship or first job opportunity, or looking to advance after you have gained some experience, you can come to us for advice and assistance.

Here are some tools to help you on your journey!

Prior to graduation, it is recommended that undergraduate students complete a set of career development benchmarks on a pathway that follows a four-year career planning model.  These benchmarks provide students an opportunity to engage in career development activities on an annual basis so that they are prepared for internships as well as transitions to a career or to graduate / professional school.  For an overview of this pathway please visit the Career Services CGUS ENGAGE page.

Graduate students should find the checklist helpful as well.

*We recommend that all students meet with career services prior to graduation.

Major and Career Exploration

Discover your gifts and your career goals with FOCUS2

We know how important it is that you find a major you love and a career path that will lead you to success.  Our Career Services Director can help you identify majors and careers that fit your interests, values, and abilities.  The first step we suggest our FOCUS 2 assessment which will help you connect your work interests, personality, values, skills, and leisure interests with possible majors and careers. After completing this we suggest you schedule an appointment with the Career Services Director or your academic advisor.

Career Advising Appointments

Sometimes you just need someone to talk to about the next step in your career.  Our Career Services Director meets individually with students in 30-minute to 1-hour appointments.  She can help you research career options and identify strategies for getting experience through an internship. She can review your resume and cover letter and provide tips that will help you land an interview.

If you have a career related question or concern and you want to talk, come on by for a visit! You may contact Career Services directly to schedule an appointment at 770-426-2767, stop by the Student Affairs/ Advocacy area, or email us at

Resume and Cover Letter Writing

In today’s world, your resume and cover letter must speak to the needs of the employer.  The key to getting an interview is a targeted resume and cover letter that showcase your transferable skills. Use our resume and cover letter samples and get the Director to review them before you reach out to your dream employer. To get started use our Resume and Cover Letter Writing tools ( housed on ENGAGE).
