Frank Ruechel, Ph.D.

Ph.D. in history, Georgia State University
M.Ed., Georgia State University
B.B.A., Georgia State University

Dr. Frank Ruechel is an Associate Professor of History, Coordinator for General Education and the B.S. in General Studies, and chair of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee. He is particularly interested in assisting students who have changed majors a few times to maximize the classes they have taken to earn a B.S. in General Studies.

Dr. Ruechel is a keen observer of current events and their historical context, which are frequently the subject of class lectures. He is most passionate about teaching students the essential role of compromise in the study of the U.S. Constitution, American Government and U.S. History; and the cyclical nature of history, i.e. “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.” He also teaches an introductory geography course and a current event course, World Issues.

Research interests include Jimmy Carter, the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, African American history and the Civil Rights Movement.
