General Program Overview

Human ecology is an interdisciplinary field that studies the relationship between humans and their economic, social and natural environments. It strives to develop a means by which sustainability could be achieved. This new degree program enrolling in the Spring Quarter of 2019 is an excellent fit within the vitalistic philosophy engrained in all Life University degree programs, as we recognize that the economic, social and natural environments, much like the innate human body, can thrive without disruptive interferences.

The B.S. In Human Ecology from Life University contains two tracks in which students can focus their studies: the People, Politics and Social Change (PPSC) specialization; and the Science, Sustainability and Resource Management (SSRM) specialization. Within the PPSC track, students will explore the challenges of sustainable living and how these ideals may be used to develop sustainable solutions to pressing issues at both the local and global levels. In the SSRM track, students will gain the technical skills required to audit the social, political and policy impact of technological advancements and will develop practical solutions to some of the most pressing contemporary environmental, economic and social challenges with a focus on sustainable practices.
