Karen E. Pfeifer, MS, LAT, ATC is an Assistant Professor in the Sport Health Science Department at Life University, where she has taught since 2014. With a background in Athletic Training and Sports Medicine, she currently teaches Physiological Therapeutics courses in the Master of Sport Health Science and Doctor of Chiropractic programs. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she served as the Interim Program Director and Clinical Education Coordinator for the Master of Athletic Training Program until 2020.
Her service to the university has been as a member of several university committees. The most prevalent being the Faculty Development Committee, where she has served as the Secretary since 2018. She has been instrumental in the development and coordination of the university’s Faculty Peer Review Program.
Prior to her current position, Mrs. Pfeifer spent 18 years in collegiate athletics as an administrator and certified athletic trainer. Most recently, she was the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Welfare/SWA (2012-2014) and the Director of Sports Medicine (2002-2012) at Kennesaw State University and the Head Athletic Trainer for Life University (2000-2002).
In her spare time, she has volunteered as lab faculty for the Southeast Athletic Trainers Association (SEATA) Student Symposium and Annual Meeting, as the medical coordinator for the Georgia Games and the Run for Life, and as a certified athletic trainer for various youth sporting events. She and her husband have two adult children.
