Professor Osburn has served as an ESL (English as a Second Language) Teacher (part-time) at the Cobb County Public Schools Adult Education Program from January 2002 to 2010. During those eight years he attended all in-service training sessions on techniques and strategies for effectively teaching a foreign language. Professor Osburn taught several of the six ESL levels, from beginner to advanced levels.
In the 2016-2017 school year he taught Spanish (levels 1, 2, 3, and 4/AP) at Tri Cities High School in East Point, GA in the Fulton County School System and received excellent evaluations. Professor Osburn was responsible for teaching Spanish classes (Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4/AP). He also attended all in-service training.
In 2015 Professor Osburn served as a Graduate Research Teaching Assistant at Kennesaw State University in the Language Department. He co-taught a University Spanish Grammar and Composition course. He also developed lesson plans, taught the class, and researched interesting materials for classroom activities.
Professor Osburn currently serves as the Director of the Hispanic community outreach at his church and teaches Sunday morning and Tuesday evening bible classes in Spanish. He assists Spanish-speaking class members in interfacing with health care providers, providing translation services with doctors and hospitals, as well as social services agencies, attorneys and courts. Professor Osburn has served as a translator for several evangelism, church-building and youth outreach mission trips to Mexico and Ecuador, translating from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English for pastors and team members and organizing church services, construction activities and youth vacation bible study programs. He is a returned U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer (Two-year term in Colombia, South America). This service helped him to perfect his spoken and written Spanish and to become effective working in a multi-cultural environment with Spanish-speaking people.
