Dr. John T. Thornhill BA, DC is an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Sciences division of Life University’s College of Chiropractic. An alumnus of Life University, Dr. Thornhill graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2010. Prior to this, he received a BA in Biology from Huntingdon College in his hometown of Montgomery, AL. After graduating from Life, he practiced in rural Clay County, Alabama for nearly six years in a family-based chiropractic clinic. In 2015, following a call to serve Lasting Purpose through teaching, Dr. Thornhill began work in Life University’s Level III Outreach Center as a Faculty Clinician where he worked for five years until transitioning to full-time classroom teaching. As a lecturer and clinical lab instructor, Dr. Thornhill works with students across several quarters of the Doctor of Chiropractic curriculum.
Dr. Thornhill’s approach to teaching emphasizes student goal setting and personal development. He is the current lead instructor for Life University’s philosophy courses as well as the Visceral Diagnosis (physical exam) course in the College of Chiropractic. Dr. Thornhill is a member of the J. Clay Thompson Technique Foundation board, and member of International Chiropractic Association (ICA). He has also been published in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal and Family Health Chiropractic and the Journal of Chiropractic Humanities. His research interests include philosophy of mind and the philosophy of chiropractic. He is certified instructor in the Thompson Terminal Point technique, and advanced proficiency certified in Activator Methods adjusting techniques. He is currently working toward certification in the Legion of Chiropractic Philosophers (LCP) as well as a PhD in philosophy and religion at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He is a proud father of two girls and lives in Kennesaw, GA with his wife Robin.
