To make a formal complaint, an individual must be participating in, or attempting to participate in the university’s education programs or activities or employed by the university. Formal complaints cannot be made anonymously except for formal complaints filed by the Title IX Coordinator when the Title IX Coordinator believes that with or without the complainant’s participation in the grievance process, it would be clearly unreasonable not to address the complaint.

There are no time period limits in the Sexual Misconduct Policy. Therefore, all incidents, no matter the date of the incident, should be reported. All incidents reported to a responsible employee should be reported to the Title IX Office. The Title IX Coordinator will determine whether jurisdiction exists to conduct an investigation. Even in incidents where there is no jurisdiction, the Title IX Coordinator can provide supportive measures and assist with accessing university resources.

As a responsible employee, you have a duty to report any incident of sexual misconduct that you observe or otherwise learn about, to the Title IX Coordinator. It does not matter if one of the involved parties is not a student or a campus community member at the university. Responsible employees should advise the reporting party that you have a duty to report any information that you receive to the Title IX Coordinator.

The responsible employees, at Life University, include all exempt employees, all faculty members, and resident assistants in Housing.
