Ilana Katz is Life university’s Dietetic Internship Director, whose work critically involves implementing all ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) requirements, preparing future registered dietitians for their board exams through precepted hours and didactic work. Ilana is also an assistant professor in the didactic nutrition program at Life University, where she teaches courses that students wanting to follow a career path as a registered dietitian would take.
Prior to becoming the fulltime internship director, Ilana taught the three required nutrition classes to the students of the D.C (Doctor of Chiropractic) program, as an adjunct faculty. She has also worked as the clinical dietitian, seeing outpatient clinical patients at C.H.O.P (Center of Health and Optimum Performance) at Life University.
Simultaneous to her part-time work at Life University, Ilana has owned and operated her own private practice in Sports Nutrition, where she has worked with athletes from recreational to professional, with a specialty in endurance sports. She herself has competed in multiple ironman triathlons, multiple marathons, and many other endurance and recreational sports. She is also a certified triathlon coach and, in this endeavor, sponsors the Atlanta Triathlon Club, offering many seminars and workshops in sports nutrition and endurance events.
Ilana has co-authored multiple self-help books and texts in her specialty: USA Diving: Coach (a Developmental Reference Manual); Swim Bike Mom: Triathlon for Real Women; Courage to Tri (Finish Your First Triathlon. A Motivational How-To for Women) and 180 your Life (A woman’s Grief Guide) that entails using sport as a coping mechanism for widows. She also has many articles published as a freelance journalist for multiple sports and wellness publications (Runner’s World, Triathlete Magazine, New You, Triathlon Life, Health and Fitness Buyer’s Guide, etc.
